The science & Grandpa's story

Greens Superfood powder + Moringa Pure + Sea Moss capsules · US only · Named for the kelp forests; does not contain kelp.

The science

Named for the kelp forests; does not contain kelp. This stack brings three plant and sea-vegetable products into one morning routine. The Greens Superfood powder is a blend of barley grass, broccoli, spirulina, green tea, alfalfa extract and wheat grass, plus a reds blend (beet root, hibiscus, berries, pomegranate), a botanical blend and a digestive blend that includes inulin. Spirulina is a blue-green alga described in the literature as containing protein and pigments (Karkos et al., 2011). Moringa Pure provides 800 mg of moringa oleifera leaf per serving; moringa leaf is a traditional food naturally containing vitamins, minerals and plant compounds (Gopalakrishnan et al., 2016). The Sea Moss capsules contain Irish moss (a red seaweed) and bladderwrack (a brown seaweed), with burdock root and black pepper extract. Edible seaweeds naturally contain minerals; amounts vary by plant and batch (Brown et al., 2014; Cherry et al., 2019). Mineral and iodine amounts in our sea moss are not stated on the label, so we make no claims about them.

Grandpa's story

Gather round, matey. When I was a young deckhand off the coast, the old bosun used to haul us to the rail at sunrise to look down into the kelp forest. Great golden stalks swaying in the green water, fish darting between them like sparks. "Everything down there feeds everything else," he'd say, chewing his pipe. "Nothing grows alone." I never forgot it. Some mornings the fog sat so thick you couldn't see the bow, and we'd stand our watch with a mug of something warm and green that my mate Teodoro brewed from whatever leaves he'd traded for in the last port. Tasted like a garden fell into the sea. But we drank it laughing, shoulder to shoulder, and that's what got us to the end of the watch. So when I mix my morning greens now, I think of that swaying forest and that foggy deck. Nothing grows alone, my friend. Not kelp, and not sailors either.
